If you're an avid traveller or you love the outdoors, you might have heard a thing or two about the benefits of merino wool.
Maybe you know how amazingly light, versatile and luxuriously comfortable it is. Or even appreciate that it's a 100% natural fibre.
But what you might not know is that merino wool is as effective in the summer as it is in the winter.
In cold conditions, merino is renowned for its exceptional insulation. Its high ‘warmth to weight’ ratio means you don’t need to wear heavy garments to feel comfortable.
In the summer, its breathable, yet absorbent fibres draw moisture vapour away from your body — making you feel cooler and less clammy.
Natural climate protection
Another little-known benefit of merino is its natural UV protection. Merino absorbs UV-A and UV-B radiation throughout the UV spectrum.
It offers much better UV protection than untreated cotton, silk, nylon, acrylic, and polyester – without the need for chemical treatment, making it the one of best natural UV protection solutions available.
Wool is wonderful, but not all wool is created equally — or sourced ethically. As with most commercial farming industries, there are practices that we do not endorse or accept — and the wool industry is no exception.
We've worked hard to ensure all our merino wool is 100% ethically sourced and cruelty-free. We're involved in developing the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS)with the aim of protecting the animals that provide us with fleece.
What does this all mean for you?
Thanks to it's unique, insulating, ventilating, and UV protection properties, merino is the ideal base layer or outerwear fabric across the seasons.
It's also an ideal travel companion — helping to keep you cool in the summer, and warm in colder conditions. It'll help you do more, with less.
Our commitment to sustainability and materials traceability means you can also wear our merino wool clothing with confidence.
