Is this suitable to use for skiing and snowboarding?

This depends on your skiing/travelling style 0 the down jacket will keep you nice and warm (when layered properly) and the water- and wind-proof jacket will keep out the elements. If you're looking for a real 'performance' jacket - this would not be so suitable as it doesn't have a snow skirt and other skiing/boarding specific features. If you're travelling and going skiing, this would be an awesome, versatile jacket to take with you.

How waterproof is this jacket? Or is it only showerproof?

It is waterproof up to 10,000 m/m, as tested using ISO 811:1981 standard

The only disappointment is the material for the collar (internal jacket) is thinning out from only 9 months use. Not sure how to fix this once it thins right through..

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bob Franze from Proof this jacket must be good Well, I bought this jacket recently and it so good that I am wishing I didn’t buy it. Why is that you may well ask. I was shopping in a supermarket a few days after buying it, and put it on my trolley while searching for an item on a shelf. A couple of minutes later I returned to the trolley to find my jacket had been pinched. So, not only did I like it but the thief obviously recognised what a quality garment it was. My recommendation is to others is that if you purchase one. Guard it closely as it is so good an opportunist thief will relieve you of it. Luckily the weather is changing for the better and I will probably survive another year wearing my old coat and save for a new one in the meantime

Also tried in early morning sun on beach without liner and its windproof and not sweaty. Very happy. Paid $300 in sale so remarkably good value
