1. Pathfinder Water Repellent driFILL Down Sleeping Bag

Pathfinder Water Repellent driFILL Down Sleeping Bag

Kathmandu offer bags in the following sizes:
  Mummy Semi-Rectangular Rectangular
Small 72cm x 197cm
Regular 70cm x 206cm 72cm x 211cm< 76cm x 211cm
Large 72cm x 220cm 74cm x 225cm 78cm x 225cm
Mummy

Mummy bags, with their wider cut shoulders and narrow feet are the most efficient when it comes to weight and warmth. These bags conform more closely to your shape and only require minimal body heat to warm up. They encase you ‘like a mummy’ and may be restrictive and less roomy than other bags.

Semi-Rectangular

Semi-Rectangular bags with their tapered foot (more room than the Mummy) and contoured hood are a good compromise. These bags provide ample sleeping space at the torso for comfort.

Rectangular

Rectangular types offer more space and are cooler than others, letting you move easily within the bag. Because of the larger top opening, heat can escape more easily.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lack warmth Not really one to complain about being cold. However, on a recent trip to Tassie this winter this bag let me down. The loft is wafer thin. While this allows the bag to be lightweight and pack down it severely limits its ability to perform in cold climates like the rating would suggest. Having to use a down jacket plus this sleeping bag to get comfortable at 5 degrees isn’t acceptable. The design of the bag is also very basic - no baffle at the shoulders! I’ve camped in the high country during winter with a much less expensive bag and been more comfortable. I wouldn’t purchase this bag again nor recommend it to anyone. Should have gone to MacPac!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Find something warmer - Not as advertised My partner and I bought two of these sleeping bags when we lived in New Zealand and expected it to be comfortable to the suggested temperature rating, especially given the price. We have both used it many times and right from the original purchase date, it wasn't able to keep myself or my partner warm in temperatures less than 10 degrees. I agree with the other 1 star reviews, it packs up small, is lightweight, however is really not a 3 season sleeping bag and does not seem to have enough loft material to perform as specified. I will be looking elsewhere for a warmer bag and suggest you do the same.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great Quality, not warm enough This bag is made with really good quality materials like all the Kathmandu products I have and has held up strong over the time I have used it . However, the bag has not been as warm as I would have liked. The comfort rating on the bag is 5 degrees but to get down to those temperatures I would need to wear a set of thermals and my down puffer jacket. The other thing about this bag I dislike is the interior pocket as it is so small I struggled to even fit my phone in it. Other then those things it is great for summer camping and will be used by me for many years to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the price! Bought this for my son's 9 days school survival camp. He felt comfortable and warm. Small and compact size is a massive bonus. Worth every cents!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very disappointed For reference, I’m not some once a year car camper. I live in Tasmania, I do a lot of camping, I use a wide variety of gear and I don’t mind paying for quality at all. I give honest reviews no matter the brand or price. I’ll start out by saying yes it was light and yes it packed down small, these features were great for multi-day hikes. The most important factor in my choice to purchase this bag however was the weather rating and unfortunately this was a HUGE let down. It’s comfort rating of 5 and transition rating of 0 are just wrong. From day one it underperformed in the cold, at 5 degrees I was not at all comfortable and needed multiple layers. My most recent trip got down to 1 degree on the last night. I had to put on all my layers which included a merino base layer, a shirt, a fleece, a vest and a pro-shell jacket. Also had multiple layers below me I won’t mention because they’re other brands. Now to add icing to the cake, with all the extra layers on I was tighter in the bag than normal. So wriggling around in the bag (as we do when cold and trying to get comfy), I managed to break the zip. Boom, can’t even zip the bag up now so I’m even colder. Had to get up, out of the bag, out of the tent and start a fire. Thank god it was the last night of the trip. For the high price I paid for this bag, I couldn’t be more disappointed. If you’re like me and feel the cold, go elsewhere because Kathmandu bags are unfortunately no longer the quality they once were.
