Rated 1 out of 5 by AnneMG from So uncomfortable I bought this back a couple of weeks ago for a Tasman walk and could bear it only for one day and had to change for another much more comfortable and easily adjustable (and cheaper!) pack. It is very uncomfortable and it dug into my back and doesn't fit properly, even though an experienced guide and another person try to adjust it, and I am a very standard 1m70, 62kg female!. I do not recommend it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Zenith from Worst experience with the pack I bought this pack a month ago, the person in the store suggested me for the Tasman walk. It's quite an uncomfortable bag. The only good thing about this pack is that hip adjustment seats quite nicely. However, the side pockets are too small, not big enough to fit (your water bottle) anything except your toothbrush or your spoons. The tent clip on keeps falling off. The design of the bag is the most annoying bit because you have to remove all your gears to use anything you want from the bag. This bag is probably just suitable for a day hike. But again there are fewer side pockets or inner pockets which is very annoying, when you want to grab something from the bag without having to remove everything from the pack.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Bernie33 from Do not choose this pack I’m currently half way through a hike with this pack and it’s a terrible pack. The pack lacks width and has no useful pockets on the outside, nor places to add clips. This bag does not do what it says it does, it is ruining my hike... I can’t wait to buy a pack that actually carries stuff so that I’m not being torn in half.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Heyjude from Comfy light roomy versatile Bought in April for 3 capes walk tassie. Carried 12kg for 4 days with no dramas so very happy. Love pockets on waistband and room for sleeping bag, food, water bag etc. Can also use with less gear and air flow was good. Will be travelling to tassie again and Bhutan next so looking forward to more years of service.

Are you able to strap a sleeping back on the outside of this pack?
You can strap this to the outside but we always recommend packing your sleeping bag inside the main compartment of your pack if possible. If it is strapped to the outside it is in more risk of damaging your sleeping bag, and the weight distribution is a massive consideration when hiking, strapping your sleeping bag to the outside can alter this and make your hike harder and quite off balanced.

How waterproof or resistant this pack ?
The Altai 50 L pack is neither waterproof, nor water resistant. To keep water off/out we suggest adding both our Pack Liner and Rain Cover.
