Travel smarter this summer

Sometimes summer doesn’t exactly go as planned, and when it doesn’t, being adaptive is a must. Every good travel story has a bunch of ups and downs, so it makes all the difference when you’re properly prepared. Whether you’re heading out on a road trip or an exotic overseas destination, there are a few things you can to do to get the most out of your adventure.

Be Prepared

We’ve talked before about the freedom and independence you get from being a minimiser. There’s no one size fits all approach to packing light, but one of the keys to travelling lean lies in your preparation. Knowing what to pack starts with knowing what you’ll need. So, as a general rule of thumb, the following tips should stand you in good stead:

  • Check the long range weather forecast
  • Write up a gear list for the activities you intend to undertake
  • Pack specific items the relate to those activities

Be Light

Avoiding the pain of the airport luggage carousel (and the extra cost of checked luggage) is a totally liberating experience. It’s totally achievable too. You’ve done your planning, so now it’s time to get ruthless. Focus on what you really need. Do you need to pack two of the same T-Shirt? Probably not. Most places have laundry facilities close by and unless you meet some extremely observant people on your travels, no one is likely to tell the difference anyway. To achieve this feat of functional efficiency, follow this simple process:

  • Make a list of the items you genuinely need
  • Lay everything out on your bed and check it off your list
  • Roll your gear into packing cells for maximum space efficiency

Be Insured

When you’re traveling on a budget and every cent is precious, it’s fair to wonder if you really need travel insurance. Is it really worth the money? Take it from us, you probably do, and yes it is. We’ve heard dozens of horror stories from people who’ve gone overseas for an adventure and ended up losing their luggage, travel documents, and much worse. The smart money says that you’ll go overseas and return completely unscathed, but there is a chance that something could go wrong. That’s a chance we’re not prepared to take, which is why we highly recommend quality travel insurance.

Be Protected

The Adapt Women's Reversible Dress offers UPF50+ protection

We all know how important it is to stay sun safe, but it isn’t all about slopping on sunscreen. The slip part of the UV protection equation is often overlooked – but that doesn’t mean it’s not equally important. To protect your skin from ultraviolent rays, clothing and swimwear need to have an ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) of at least 30. Our new range of Adapt travel gear is perfect for summer travel, offering UPF50+ protection and optimal versatility. The Adapt range is packed with clever reversible pieces that allow you to pack less, and take more.

Be Adaptive
